Backup Types
Cloud SQL
There are four ways of backup in CloudSQL:
- Automated: daily, full backups saved within a chosen 4-hour window
- On-demand: manually triggered, useful prior to risky actions or to preserve a state
- Final: optional backup taken automatically just before an instance is deleted
- Retained: Persist independently of deleted instance based on original retention policies.
Firestore
- Automatic backups replicate data synchronously across multiple zones or regions
- Manual backups can be configured for daily or weekly schedules
- Point-in-time-recovery (PITR) lets you read documents from a moment up to 7 days in past
- Manually export an entire database or specific collections to Cloud store
