Backup Types

Cloud SQL

There are four ways of backup in CloudSQL:

  1. Automated: daily, full backups saved within a chosen 4-hour window
  2. On-demand: manually triggered, useful prior to risky actions or to preserve a state
  3. Final: optional backup taken automatically just before an instance is deleted
  4. Retained: Persist independently of deleted instance based on original retention policies.

Firestore

  • Automatic backups replicate data synchronously across multiple zones or regions
  • Manual backups can be configured for daily or weekly schedules
  • Point-in-time-recovery (PITR) lets you read documents from a moment up to 7 days in past
  • Manually export an entire database or specific collections to Cloud store
